As the seasons turn, the brine starts to shift in strange ways...

"Hey kid... it's that time of year again and the brine shows a great harvest of gourds. You got em? I want em."

Welcome one and all to the halloween event!

Things to do

Explore!

For the duration of the event, brine forages that meet the event requirements can get Festive Gourds and have the chance to encounter zombies. Additionally, all brine eggs have the chance to roll the following mutations: Exoskeleton (Eo), Fur (Fr), Gulper Mouth (gu), Lure (lu) and Ghost (gh).

Event forages must:

  • Be fullbody
  • Be colored
  • Feature the brine biome
  • Include all participating phonies
  • Include all forage aid items
  • Include at least one festive gourd

Send all event forages here! Forages sent to the regular foraging comment won't roll any event rewards.

And make sure to participate in this month's monthly prompt: Zombies!

Meet Mr. Stripes!

Mr. Stripes emerges from an enormous hole in the brine matting to bargain for gourds. What he does with them is anyone's question, but he certainly does offer nice loot in exchange.

New genes!

We're adding a few new genes!



Aniridism

Meet Aniridism (ar), a recessive pigment mutation that removes all iridescent pigment from a phony. Aniridistic phonies are usually brown, pink, yellow, orange or red, on account of having no green, blue or purple pigments. It adds +1 PER to the phony.

Aniridistic phonies get unique eyes like iridistic phonies do. Here, the iris must be dark and the pupil must be a significantly lighter shade of the same color. The inner white dot that phonies often have must be black.





Neck Length

Next is Neck Length (nk), a recessive mutation which changes the length of your phony's neck. You can do a long neck or a short one, and you aren't limited to using the same length as your phony's ancestors. It causes no stat changes.

Before this trait was introduced phonies could have any neck length, so phonies with different neck lengths will be retroactively granted this trait.




Jointed Body

Next is Jointed Body (Eo + Rw), a combo trait that makes your phony's entire body look as if they have joints, like a bug or a doll. This trait must be present on the whole body and not just one place. Jointed phonies get the +1 STR bonus that Eo grants.








Mandibles

Next is Mandibles (Eo + dh), a combo trait that gives your phony a set of spiky jointed limbs around their face. Phonies with the trait must have the mandibles be on the face only, though you don't have to put them on the mouth. (You could do some on the cheeks or forehead or ears, for example.) Mandibled phonies get the +1 STR bonus that Eo grants.





New buddy!

We're also introducing a new buddy! Please welcome the XP buddy, who will add +5 exp points to any piece of art to the phony that owns it when included. They're wiggly little fellows hailing from the tundra. They use the albinism palette and are partially transparent (As a result, they can only be white/light blue and solid color), but can change the color of their innards at a moment's notice from blue to red to camouflage.


Quality of life changes!

We're also adding a few new features and tweaks! Including:

  • You can now use items to heal your phonies!
  • You can now attempt to befriend NPCs you encounter and if you win they can join your school! This encounter uses your phony's CHA stat. NPCs may be part of multiple schools.
  • You can now craft gray and green dye!
  • Ghost can now apply to the head!
  • For the duration of the event, you can use a precision pipette to pass down the old bone lineart on your clearbodied phonies!
