Symmetry Differences

This page hosts information and examples for genes and anatomy that appear differently based off of a confibulan's symmetry. The page mostly pertains to the Tri-symmetry and Palindromic genes.

Markings

Blanket, Countershade and Dorsal (Affected by Ts)

On regular phonies, blanket and dorsal cover the back and countershade covers the belly. However, palindromes don't have a distinctive single back or belly, so on palindromes or phonies with tri-symmetry, blanket and dorsal cover the edges with feet and countershade covers each side. Here, blanket is seen in dark blue, dorsal in even darker blue, and countershading in light blue.

Rear and Hood (Affected by pl)

On regular phonies, hood covers the head and neck and rear covers the back end of a phony. Palindromes have a head on each end, so in their case, or that of phonies with the palindromic mutation, hood still covers the head and neck while rear wraps around the midsection. Here, hood is seen in dark blue and rear in light blue.

Anatomy

Facial Anatomy

Tri-Symmetry induces the following changes on the face: Changing of the gill plate to another "ear" (which have always been gill plates that just look like ears), a third eye, and a y-shaped mouth.

Left: A phony without tri-symmetry. Right: A phony with tri-symmetry expressing on the face.

Left: A palindrome with tri-symmetry. Right: A palindrome without tri-symmetry.

As a note, phonies wthout Ts still have a third eye, it's on their lower jaw and has been reduced to a tiny dot. (like a lizard's parietal eye.)

Body Anatomy

Tri-Symmetry on the body turns the fins into legs, and vice versa. Phony fins are just severely modified, vestigial legs with lots of extra skin. Poke around in the right mutation, and you get legs on the spine of your phony!

Left: A phony without tri-symmetry. Middle: A phony with tri-symmetry expressing on just the body. Right: A phony with tri-symmetry expressing on the body and face.

Left: A palindrome with tri-symmetry expressing on the body and face. Middle: A palindrome with tri-symmetry expressing on just the body. Right: A palindrome without tri-symmetry.
